Meet Denisha
...as Denisha

Dr. Denisha Hendricks, a veteran collegiate athletics administrator is currently the Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Selma and the Senior Associate with the athletics executive search firm Beverly & Associates. Most recently she served as Interim Director of Athletics and Recreation and Special Assistant to the Vice President of Student Affairs at Keene State College (2018-2020). Her storied career included stops at Livingstone College (2004-2005) as Dean of Students and Senior Woman Administrator, Johnson C Smith University (2005-2009) where she served as Interim Department Chair and Asst. AD/SWA, Director of Athletics and Assistant Professor at Kentucky State University (2009-2014), and Associate Vice President/Director of Athletics at Chicago State University (2014-2016). Addtionally, she serves on the Board of Directors for the Rotary Club of Selma (2023-Present).

A 2000 graduate of the University of South Carolina with a degree in physical education/athletic training, Hendricks earned both a master’s and doctorate in higher education administration from Auburn University in 2001 and 2004 respectively. In 2007, Dr. Hendricks graduated from the NCAA Leadership Institute for Ethnic Minority Females. Most recently, Hendricks became a Certified Executive Coach through the Center for Executive Coaching. She has to her credit numerous, local, state, regional, and national presentations and several publications that include, peer-reviewed journal articles, quantitative instruments, and health promotion training manuals.

Dr. Hendricks has received numerous awards, including 2020 Distinguished Toastmasters Award, 2015 Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated Crescent Moon Award of Excellence in Leadership and Athletics, 2008 Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated National Leadership Initiative Award, the 2007 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Senior Woman Administrator of the Year.

In July 2012, Hendricks was selected by Auburn University as a recipient of the institution’s prestigious Young Alumni Achievement Award, recognizing extraordinary accomplishments by members of the Auburn family who are under 40 years old.

An active diamond life member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated and is currently the National Director of Zeta Organizational Leadership.  She is a member of Order of Eastern Star, National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa Sorority, Incorporated, The Links, Incorporated, Toastmasters International, and numerous other professional and civic organizations. In August 2021, Hendricks was elected as the Chair of the Carolina Christian College Board of Trustees.
